A yearlong, metro-wide Rock 'n' Roll odyssey January-November 2025
Clue One
On a lake with a name bang-on the same
As our opening act's lead fellow,
We'd hoped to stow the stuff in the snow,
And we tried—but it was all yellow!
So into the woods we schlepped the goods
To shroud them from light of day,
Where a forested fold embraces the cold—
For a beautiful venue to play!
Clue Two
From a croft of sand in the far-off land
Of a once-booming industry town—
Beacon of burnage, a bustling burgage—
Segmented by way of the crown.
With city united by lads longsighted
And rock 'n' roll's star reawoken,
Traipse on a trail by hill and by dale
And track down a treasured token.
Clue Three
Run to the hills for this battle of wills,
If you long for a "yes" or a "no"—
To a natural thrill with nary a frill,
Where giants and wild things grow.
Make like a tree—scientifically;
Hew close to the path, as one should,
To find your maiden, heavy-laden—
Cast not out of iron, but in wood.
Clue Four
Seek out the gleam of a brilliant stream,
And trails, all wooded and burled—
Where faithful legions from many regions
Descend on the top of the world.
The bend in a river is sure to deliver
A beautiful park full of answers
To the treasured question; our suggestion?
Just charge ahead and lock antlers!
Clue Five
Tough act to follow, heeding the call o'
Adventure that we devise—
From highs to lows and plains to plateaus,
Search as the eagle flies.
Look in a nook where river meets brook
For a gift from the afterlife—
And ambulate through the rolling estate
To dwell on the edge of a knife.
Clue Six
Short and stout, umlaut and about,
Land of sons and dotters;
A mariner's heaven comprised of eleven
Calm and pleasant waters.
Witches revel—a dance with the Devil—
In the forest, where darkness looms;
Peel eyes and ears for mountaineers
On modern, mechanical brooms!
Clue Seven
Our Stairway to Heaven begins at eleven;
That's where you'll take the stage—
On tour with your group to an evergreen loop
With Jones, Bonham, Plant, and Page.
Cross hill and dale, pursuing the trail
Of hard rock legends and fables,
Ringing clear as a bell—well, well, well...
Look at how the turntables.
Clue Eight
An interaction of polar attraction
Leads right to the lucky loot—
A psychedelic rock 'n' roll relic
In the vale of forbidden fruit.
Think you can tell heaven from hell?
Locate a little black baggie;
The trail to take runs beside the lake
Of Nettie and Alice and Maggie.
Clue Nine
Charging your way into the fray
In a flurry of fuss and feathers,
Extend a line through oak and pine
To a generation's bellwethers.
Play along with 'em, keeping the rhythm
In time with the lunar drum set;
Hop on your horse to stay the course—
Then ride off into the sunset!
Clue Ten
In a shining crown, the king of town—
With pomp and ceremony—
Bestowed his grace upon this place,
But it's all just a bunch of bologna.
So go on a jaunt to get what you want,
Riding the Great Northern rail;
Cut for sign along the old line
And stick to the south of the trail.
Clue Eleven
Clue by clue, we've guided you
On a roller coaster through rock heaven,
And at each station, a single location—
But this one goes to eleven!
So hit a home run at a place for fun
Or go long on fourth down—
To rock and revel on a tribal level,
At every park in town!
